Friday Four 1: Pumpkin Recipes + Life

Friday Four 1 on This Gal CooksHello all and welcome to my first installment of the Friday Four! And more importantly, Happy Friday!

What is the Friday Four? Why am I doing this? Easy questions, easy answers! I’m going to share 4 of my recipes with you along with a little peep into my world for the past week. I think it’s great to share our stories with each other. If you’d love to share anything fun and fantastic that happened in your life this week, feel free to share in the comments below.

Sorry not sorry but the first installment of the Friday four is all about pumpkin. Don’t hate. In my world, it’s never too early for pumpkin. And in case you missed it, Starbucks rolled out their pumpkin spice syrups this week. Guess who enjoyed a Pumpkin Spice Latte on Wednesday?

National Dog Day was also this week. Every day is National Dog Day for my dog. She’s spoiled rotten. And she’s the cutest dog E-V-E-R. In case you haven’t seen thousands of photos of her already, here’s one of her sleeping. Cue the cuteness factor.

OH. One more thing before we get to the recipes. My Carrion plant finally had it’s first bloom of the year. This made me do the HAPPY DANCE!

Isn't this one of the coolest flowers you've ever seen?

  2. So many delicious pumpkin recipes, I love it! That Carrion flower is really neat, I’ve never seen anything like that before. Enjoy the long weekend, Julie!

    • Thank you, Ashley! I love that plant! It smells horrid (its way of attracting blow flies, which assist in pollination) but it’s beautiful!

      Have a great weekend!

  3. Thank you for the nice recipes and have a Great Weekend!

  4. Love this new series! It’s always great to catch up. I have yet to stop by Starbucks and grab myself a PSL. Must fix that this weekend. I had a lazy week because the boss is away so I was slacking and enjoying time with the boy! Hope you have a great weekend!

    • Glad you enjoy it, Zainab! Funny story – we live near Port St. Lucie, Fl. People abbreviate it PSL. So when I see Pumpkin Spice Latte PSL, I always think of Port St. Lucie. Gah. Not cool!

Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope you have a great weekend.

PS, LOVE lazy days at work. Not that I love not being productive. But it seems like there are just times when a lazy day is warranted. Like right before a holiday. Of course, my day wasn’t really lazy today. SO busy. Month end, having to run around to different places. Gotta love accounting. But I do. It keeps me busy and keeps my brain working! LOL

  5. First of all, your dog is adorable!! And, I love all of the pumpkin recipes. Your recipes are always delicious, Julie!

  6. My brain is not ready for Fall quite yet, but they look delicious Julie!! Maybe if it drops below 90 degrees, and the dewpoints drop below 70 I can think about it. LOL Have a great weekend. :)

  7. Yay, love this new series Julie! All these pumpkin recipes look amazing! Definitely getting me more excited about fall now! That Carrion flower is so pretty and oh my goodness, your dog is so so cute :)

  8. Looks like some delicious pumpkin-y goodness to me, hope you’re having a great holiday weekend Julie!

  9. What a great collection. I didn’t realize you can do pancakes with pumpkin.

  10. Great post, Julie! I love the sound of that pumpkin cheesecake!
And that amazing flower … wow! It’s beautiful and even a bit scary at the same time!

    • Thank you, Helen! That flower has opened all of its blooms! There were about 10 buds on it this year, by far the most of any year since I have had it. I moved it to my backyard earlier this year. I think it must like the environment out there much better. :)
