Stitch Fix June 2014 Review + Shopping Love

Lately I’ve become a little obsessed with fashion.

Stitch Fix June 2014

This is a little odd coming from me, because I’ve always hated shopping for clothes. I was always so darn picky and cheap when it came to buying clothes. Then I grew up and realized that the hard time I was having with clothes shopping was probably due to me being so cheap.

I never liked spending a lot of money on clothes but I found that cheaper clothes either fell apart or didn’t fit me right. Of course, there are discount stores that let you get great deals on top quality clothing, but I am not fond of digging through racks of clothes to find something I may or may not like enough to bring home with me.

Cue online shopping.

I fell in love with New York and Company a couple years ago. Their stores are clean and organized and their clothes are good quality and they fit me great! After a few shopping trips to NY&C, and after I moved 25 miles away from the closest store, I decided to start purchasing their clothes online. At that very moment, I realized that I loved online shopping. I get pure excitement out of knowing that I will come home to new clothes on delivery day! And if I don’t like them, I can simply send them back.

Enter Stitch Fix.

One of my blogging pals, Ashley from Spoonful of Flavor, introduced me to Stitch Fix through her Stitch Fix posts. O.M.G. Not only is this an online method to try out great quality clothes, it’s a personal shopping meets the average person experience. WIN! My personal stylist selects clothes and accessories based on my style profile and ships them to me every 2-3 weeks. If I love the items, I keep them. If the clothes and I don’t become friends, I simply send them back in the postage paid packaging that Stitch Fix provides. How cool is that?!

Today I’m sharing my second box of Stitch Fix goodies with you. I didn’t get around to sharing my first box. Shame on me! I’m not really into trying on the clothes and sharing photos of myself wearing them (yet) so instead, I made a fun collage on Polyvore with my pieces. I included some items that I would pair with them. All images are either my own, found on Polyvore or found on the Stitch Fix website.

Stitch Fix June 2014

  1. Abrianna Longsleeve Knit Cardigan / $48.00 – I LOVE this cardigan. It was very soft and lightweight and it flowed perfectly. However, I did not keep this as I already have two coral colored cardigans.
  2. Rylee Waist Twisted Maxi Skirt / $68.00 – Cute style and this fit well but I am not into maxi skirts. I cannot stand anything dragging on the floor when I walk. If this was an above the knee length skirt, I may have kept it. But this piece went back.
  3. Camille Striped Pockete Tank / $44.00 – I really liked this shirt. It’s not super tight fitting yet it still looks flattering while I’m wearing. It’s perfect for summertime in Florida. I actually wore it the day after I received it. I layered it with a pale mint green tank. So obviously, I kept this piece!
  4. Joshula Colored Ankle Jean / $64.00 – Ankle pants are my thing. As I mentioned before, I hate when anything I’m wearing touches the floor. So naturally, I was super excited to see these pants in my box. I love the color and the length. Unfortunately, they were too small and sat way too low on my hips. Sadly, I had to send these back.
  5. Kacie Half Flap Crossbody Bag / $48.00 – I had an internal battle with myself over this bag. I love the color. I love the style. I love the room that it offers without it being bulky. But I am probably going to purchase an Epiphanie bag soon so I finally decided that I would return this bag. I may have shed a tear over this decision.

So there you have it. Today marks history – it’s the very first day that I’ve posted a fashion article on this blog. I had a lot of fun writing this post so I think I will be doing monthly posts on the Stitch Fix goodies that I receive. I hope you enjoyed this deviation from food today!

If you’d like to find the other items that I included in my Polyvore collection, you can find them here.

  1. Oh my gosh I love this post!! First of all I never thought this day will come when you will love shopping! (Happy dance!!) stitch fix looks like a great idea and I’ve been enjoying Ashley’s posts too and dabbling with the idea of trying it. Love all your items and the polyvore collage. Isn’t polyvore awesome? Super time suck lol! I’m looking forward to more of these posts.

    • Haha, I know, right?! It’s probably a bad thing that I have found a love for clothes shopping. Seriously, I just spent about $100 on some Loft stuff. I should have it in the mail early next week. And then I told my Stitch Fix stylist that I am going to Vegas next month and to send over some cute warm weather clothes for that. So who knows, I may keep the entire fix next time!

Thanks for stopping by, Zaianb! Hope you have a great 4th!

  2. Love this post, Julie! I’m so glad that you have enjoyed your past few fixes. I really love the pieces that you received in this fix. The ankle jeans and tee are both winners, it is too bad that the pants didn’t fit. I really love the bag but the Epiphene bags are great too. I love that you made a polyvore collage, great idea! I can’t wait to see what you receive in future fixes!

    • Thank you, Ashley! When I saw those pants in the box, I was so excited. I really love the color and the ankle pants are my favorite type of pant. I was totally bummed that they didn’t fit but hopefully, something similar will come along in a future fix! I’m still shopping for an Epiphanie bag. I found a blue bag that I really like on a website and emailed someone from Ephiphanie about it but they said the color was discontinued. Boo. But I really do need to invest in a bag that will securely carry my camera, iPad and wallet/other purse essentials!

Hope you have a great 4th and thanks for stopping by. :)

  3. Mmmmm, I wish I could say I hated shopping… I LOVE shopping, I’m a shop-aholic!!! There I said it. I like trying stuff on though and rarely order ‘real’ clothes online. {I do order running clothes and running shoes online.}

  4. I love shopping online and have been doing it for years. So, I will take a look at this site.

  5. Such cute things! I know from Ashley that the boxes just keep getting better – can’t wait to see what you get in the future! I get my first box soon and can’t wait!

    • Thanks, Lindsay! Can’t wait to see what you get (hope you share on your blog!) They are so much fun and a little addictive…I couldn’t wait an entire month for my fixes so I set mine for ever 2-3 weeks! :)

  6. What a cute collection of clothes! I am not a shopper either and can relate. Maybe I should try this too? Thanks for sharing the idea of Stitch Fix. Fun!

    • You should definitely try it, Holly! It’s actually funner than regular online shopping because what you get for each fix is a surprise! You don’t know what pieces/accessories you will get until your package arrives. :)

  7. I LOVE shopping online and they sent you some cute things!! That striped tank is the BOMB. Love. That.
