Friday Four 11: Thanksgiving Side Dish Recipes

Happy Friday to you.

Friday Four 11: Thanksgiving Side Dish Recipes - All are homemade! | This Gal Cooks

Are you happy it’s Friday? I am. I know, I say that every week. But Friday makes me so happy that I HAVE to repeat it every week.

We count down to Friday at work. On Wednesday, we start saying “it’s almost Friday.” On Friday, we’re like IT’S FRIDAY!.” Last Friday was like a total donut fest at work. It was Halloween so I decided to bring in a dozen Halloween donuts from Dunkin Donuts. So did everyone else. And even a customer, too. There were donuts EVERYWHERE. Which isn’t bad, unless you hate donuts. But who the heck hates donuts?

ON THE BLOG: This week I shared this Creamy Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad and these Four Ingredient BBQ Chicken Crescent Roll Ups. For your sweet tooth, I shared this Snickers Chocolate Peanut Butter Pumpkin Fudge.

IN MY LIFE: Halloween was a bit…crazy. We only had five or six trick-or-treators. So we took to drinking some beers and hanging out with the neighbors. Ken and one of the neighbors were telling fast drivers to slow down. One lady got really mad at them and started yelling at them, saying she’s been driving for 50 years and there was no way she was driving fast. But she was. Another neighbor’s friend’s car got towed. They parked it in our neighbors yard. The tow truck guy came and towed it away. They were not happy. A lot of screaming and ruckus went of for a few minutes with them. But our little group kept having a good time!

Today I’m sharing four of my favorite Thanksgiving Side Dish Recipes with you. All are homemade. All are ridiculously good. Enjoy the recipes!

  1. Those side dishes are to-die-for! I’m such a sucker for sweet potato casserole especially! Looks fantastic. I love that greeting card thing about the donuts! Lol! Sounds like a fun day at work – too many donuts is not a bad problem to have, right? :) Have a great weekend, Julie!

    • I love sweet potato casserole! But I tell ya, I cannot tell you what my favorite side dish is as I love them all and every time I take a bite out of one, I think it’s my fav!

Hope you have a great weekend, Sarah!

  2. I only just tried brussel sprouts for the first time this summer and I’m totally and completely in love with them! Great recipes !

    • Thank you, Paula! I used to hate brussels sprouts but then last year, I tried them at a restaurant and I was like YUM! So I made this recipe and I cannot get enough of them now!

Thanks for stopping by and for the compliment, too!

  3. I want to celebrate Thanksgiving now so that I can eat all of these delectable side dishes! I can never get enough of brussels sprouts but have never roasted them with bacon. I’ll have to try that next time! Have a great weekend, Julie!

    • Oh you will want to eat the ENTIRE pan of them when roasting them with bacon. SO good. I made them the night before Thanksgiving last year and almost ate all of them before even taking them over to my mom’s house!

  5. Some excellent suggestions for some side dishes. I am not doing the full monty this year. I am not sure what I am going to be designated to bring. These dishes got me thinking.

    • They are all so good and I can’t really choose a fav because I think ALL of them are my fav! But if you want to do something quick and easy that won’t take up too much time, I’d go for the sweet potato casserole!

  6. we always have a liitle expat thanksgiving over here to try and keep up with tradition – plus any excuse to over eat with friends is welcomed. Might add that sweet potato pie to the line up!

  7. The sides really are the best part about Thanksgiving, well, maybe other than the desserts. Love the four you’ve posted here, staples for us!
